Is this the same level as breaking up over text message? 2020 has been quite a year, but so far this was probably The most awkward.

We had our first divorce hearing via phone back in November. That was a quick and simple meeting, mainly because our divorce was uncontested.
We donβt have any children together so no custody battle, child support issue… we sold our home so no real estate fight. I spent 5 months closing out accounts, paying off bills, selling and dividing possessions, taking names off loans, both moving into our new homes and really settling into our new normal.

I love watching peoples reaction when I tell them that my divorce was completed in a total of 2 phone calls, about 20 minutes each.
Yes, thatβs right! 20 minutes. 40ish if you include the wait time. That was fun….NOT! Listening to your soon to be ex husband breathe and move around yet not speak to you. Then 20 minutes of actually speaking to the judge. So both phone calls were about 80 minutes total, including wait time.
I canβt tell you which way to get a divorce is better. In person in front of a judge? Or over the phone, in a conference call with the judge? Iβm not a divorce expert because I researched it, Iβm a divorce expert because Iβve lived through two.

Yes, Two marriages! That is a fun reaction to receive also. Iβm not going to get into details about my failed marriages in this post, except to say I made the right choice on both. People can and will judge me, but thatβs on them. I will continue to live a happy life.
